Background/Experience
Stephanie was introduced to fitness when her high school put in a gym, and was hooked! She always ran casually, but in her early twenties, she began participating in races and never looked back. Around the same time Steph discovered yoga, and loved the spiritual, mental, and physical meld that it provides. After years of going to the gym and fitness classes, she became an AFLCA instructor and began leading classes of her own. After a while, realizing she wanted to turn fitness into a full time career, she began taking classes while continuing to work full time. At 29, Steph left her role as a laboratory technician and dove into school full time at NAIT, earning a PFT diploma. Her practicum was at a physio clinic where she got to see the healing powers of movement in action. Now, with years of experience and more certifications, Steph loves working with clients of all types and abilities. She loves working with, “new to fitness” clients – teaching them the “how’s” and “why’s” of strength training and helping them build habits with behavioural changes. She loves watching her clients’ confidence in the gym grow and their techniques advance into more challenging movements. She continues to learn and develop her craft.
When she isn’t in the gym, you can find Stephanie outside, most often in the mountains. Usually she is out trail running, hiking, biking, camping, walking her dog, paddle boarding, or gardening. Steph believes in a balanced and sustainable lifestyle – that fitness is for everyone and for life, and that it should be fun! It is a gift that enhances the quality of our lives mentally and physically and should be accessible to everyone.
